National Computer Corporation (NCC) Celebrates 40 Years in the Point of Sale Industry
NCC marks four decades of software innovation, long-term leadership stability, and successful independent reseller partnerships.
Greenville, SC – March 17, 2026 – National Computer Corporation (NCC), a leading developer of comprehensive software solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Over the past four decades, NCC has demonstrated its strong commitment to providing stable, scalable restaurant and retail-focused technology, and supporting its strong independent reseller channel.
Founded in Clemson, S.C. in 1986, NCC began by providing proprietary restaurant point of sale (POS) software and back-office restaurant software. Just a year later, NCC added two national restaurant accounts, and moved to its headquarters in Greenville, S.C., which continues to be the home of the company today. In 1990 Doug and Jody Harris purchased NCC, launching an era of strategic leadership that has powered NCC’s longevity.
Partnership has been integral to NCC’s success over the years, from its original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with DataCard, a European distribution agreement with Bleep in the 1990s, its OEM relationship with Toshiba TEC in the 2000s, and its long-term partnership with Touch Dynamic that began in 2010. These OEM partnerships and NCC innovation powered numerous technology expansions over the years, including:
- 1995: NCC’s first touchscreen POS software
- 2002: Launch of TEC FS-3600 (NCC software and OEM hardware)
- 2005: TEC FS-3700 and R4 software platform; R4 became the codebase for NCC’s modern embedded software products
- 2009: NCC introduced the POS-5700, the embedded, fanless terminal for foodservice and hospitality to create a reliable local system with no single point of failure and no vulnerabilities to malware or cyberattacks.
- In 2010, NCC pivoted to position its company as software-first and launched the Reflection POS brand, in 2011. That same year, CRS began distributing NCC software on SAM4s terminals.
NCC is known in the industry for its strong reseller channel. It launched its partner program in the early 2000s and formally expanded it nationally in 2009. In the first year, NCC signed more than 40 resellers, and by 2012, its channel grew to 150 authorized resellers. To support its channel with education, training, and recognition, NCC began holding annual NCC Reseller Conferences. This year’s event, the 14th, will return to Greenville, where the first conference was held in 2013.
Partners who are members of the Retail Solutions Providers Association (RSPA) chose NCC as the recipient of the Bronze Vendor of Excellence Award (VAE) in 2012 and as an award recipient every year since, including five Gold VAE awards.
NCC’s honors and awards include being chosen as the official POS system for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and for the 2016 summer games in Rio through its partner Bleep. Additionally, Business Solutions Magazine, now online at VARinsights, honored NCC with five Best Channel Vendor awards from 2013 to 2018.
“When I started in this industry forty years ago, I never imagined the journey it would become,” Doug Harris, CEO of NCC, reflected. “What makes this milestone special isn’t just the years — it’s the relationships. The resellers and partners who stood beside us along the way helped shape NCC into what it is today. Our story has always been a shared one.”
Chuck Prince, President of NCC, added “This anniversary isn’t really about NCC — it’s about the people who helped build it. For forty years, our resellers, partners, and customers have trusted us to grow alongside them. We’ve always believed that when you focus on building strong relationships and supporting your partners, success becomes something you create together. The legacy we’re celebrating this year belongs to all of us.”
NCC’s yearlong 40th anniversary celebration kicked off with a party at its 2026 Reseller Conference on March 12-14.
